![]() Get creative, don't lock yourself into traditional parties. What I have is 4 single target damage dealers. Really, out of the 4 roles you mention, technically speaking, i don't have any of them. The other 3 though are wielding two handers and don't have empress garb. And hard to call Barbarians tanks, although one does have very high AC thanks to the empress garb chain shirt, which is stupid OP when mixed with Barb DEX+CON to AC when wearing cloth. No casters, no healers, rogue only through the lowlife skill, and technically speaking you don't even need that really. Every single game you need to have those, I honestly can't wait for a game to go beyond 6, but I'd be happy with any adaptation staying with 6. Could you refresh my memory for me Judging by the first reviews, it seems he's talking about Betrayal in Antara. When a game limits you to 4, there are HAVE to have's: Tank, Rogue (Traps, chests ect.), Healer/cleric, and Caster. I recall Betrayal at Antara had/has an issue with a temple missing, but I've played the GOG version of Betrayal at Krondor and don't recall anything being broken. Originally posted by Dannyboy:Finrod had a great breakdown of how I feel when a game limits me to only 4, essentially those roles are all taken up already and there is very little variation in a parties make up. A good DM can handle more players of course, but even so, the more players, the less attention the DM can devote to each player. More and there is too much downtime between player actions as the DM can only handle so many things going on at once. Someone else mentioned that 4 is the default expected party size for 5th edition parties.Ĥ works well for pen and paper as well. Ok, forget about those with 1, although i wouldn't say they are necessarily better or worse, just different.īetrayal at Krondor was a great game for its time.Īnyway, some good modern RPGs with a party size of 4. (Dont know Krondor, and haven't heard good things about bard tales) OP asked why in Solasta, the party size is the minimum for an adaptation of D&D. Then, too much micro management, is good or bad depending on taste. Party size of 5 (like temple of elemental evil) or 6 is better for a D&D based game (where 4 roles are needed) to give more flexibility on class choices. ![]() I like the Witcher (finished one, playing 3), but in the Witcher, we are not playing a videogame version of a tabletop game.įor games that are based on a D&D, a c-RPG, with less than 4, we'd lose on the basic needed roles. You are talking of different types of game than Solasta is. The Witcher is just 1 character IIRC (not played it myself, son has played the whole series). The Bard's Tale remake had just 1 character.
